UK Man Gets Prison for Carrying Replica Master Sword in Public
Anthony Bray from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, felt like a real-life hero wielding Link’s iconic Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately, his adventure took a surprising turn when the police noticed something was off.
This wasn’t your typical cosplay prop. Bray’s Master Sword, although a replica, had a very real and dangerous blade attached to it. On June 8, police spotted Bray casually walking down the street with this weapon in hand.
Bray explained to the officers that he bought the sword online and intended to use it as a “fidget toy” to keep his hands occupied. However, his intentions didn’t matter once the law got involved. Carrying a bladed article in public is illegal, and Bray found that out the hard way.
Warwickshire police wasted no time handling the situation. Sergeant Spellman commented, “It is possible to find fidget toys that aren’t six-inch blades. It is possible not to walk down the street holding them out in front of you.” Spellman added that with a bit more self-awareness, Bray could have completely avoided this trouble.
For carrying the bladed Master Sword, Bray has been sentenced to four months in prison. Additionally, he faces a fine of £154. Despite Bray’s claims that he never intended to use the sword as a weapon, the law was clear. His replica Master Sword, which was more than just a harmless fan prop, landed him in serious legal hot water.
Warwickshire Police shared the news on their social media, emphasizing the importance of caution and common sense. Bray’s story serves as a reminder that even the coolest props can lead to unexpected consequences if not handled responsibly.
So, while it might be fun to feel like a hero from a video game, remember that real-life rules still apply. Bray’s adventure with Link’s Master Sword ended with a harsh lesson about the realities of the law.
